To drive progress towards group-wide net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, we have joined three key initiatives from the internationally respected non-profit, The Climate Group. These include RE100 to accelerate the transition to renewables; EV100 to switch to electric vehicles; and EP100 to improve energy productivity across its global portfolio.
EMR is a member of the UK's Council for Sustainable Business (CSB), which advises Defra ministers and policy teams on the role business can play in achieving the Government's 25 Year Environment Plan. We're also supporting the CSB's Get Nature Positive project with its goal of providing support and inspiration for businesses on the journey to a nature-positive economy.
EMR has set a 2030 target to be net-zero for indirect emissions created by the purchase of electricity or steam - defined as Scope 2 emissions under the Greenhouse Gas Protocal. We've called this plan 'Our Decade of Action' and you can download the pdf here.
In the run-up to COP26 EMR ran a series of webinars outlining how different parts of the business will move to carbon net-zero.
