Meet Nathan Breeze, one of EMR's Class 1 drivers who help keep our metal moving.
Each day I wake up at 4:00am and prepare myself for the day. I usually arrive at site around 5:00am in the morning to collect my routes. The routes I take can take anything from two hours each way to four, so the amount of customers I visit each day varies. It is not just a case of arriving at the customer’s site and leaving straight away, I have to allow time to make sure that the customer has everything they need. To me it is important to deliver a high level of customer service. At the end of each day I like to make sure I have everything I need in preparation for tomorrow.
I have been with EMR for around 7 years now and before I joined I worked as a delivery driver for B&Q. This would involve me carrying out the whole process, from loading the vehicle with the customer’s items, to taking it into their home. At that time I drove a 7.5 tonne vehicle and held a class two licence. I now hold a class one licence.
When you receive thanks from customers. I am fortunate to deliver to the same customers week on week, so I have been able to develop some really great professional relationships. It means a lot to me when these customers give me a simple thank you and show appreciate for the work that I do.
Traffic can be a challenging part of my role but unfortunately, that is unavoidable. I like to be punctual when arriving at customer’s locations so it can be challenging.
I definitely pride myself on delivering high quality customer service. There are so many amazing people in my team who work hard each and every day to meet the needs of our customers. I am proud to be a part of it.
I have always enjoyed driving but I had never had the opportunity to drive a Class 1 vehicle. I love that I now get to drive one of these vehicles every day. In working for EMR it’s great to be part of a team where I am treated with trust and respect. If I have ideas my managers always have time to listen and take my suggestions on board wherever possible. I give 100% to my job and I feel that my team gives it back to me.
