Footnotes:

  1. Total Carbon Emissions from Circularity — Carbon emissions from EMR activities have been calculated by EMR with operational boundaries being gate-to-gate for Scope 1 & 2 reporting, as per DEFRA & GHG guidance. Total Carbon Emissions from Circularity further accounts for Scope 3 emissions, including upstream and downstream transport and downstream use of sold products i.e. to manufacture new materials (Scope 3 Categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, and 10).
  2. Estimated Carbon Emissions from Equivalent Primary Production — Estimated Carbon Emissions from Equivalent Primary Production illustrates the total emissions from material produced from primary ore using industry averages.
  3. Carbon Emissions Avoided — Carbon Emissions Avoided are reported as a net societal benefit from EMR activities, remanufacturing, and producer contributions, based on the difference in carbon impact between recycling and primary production.
  4. Material Circularity — Material Circularity: This refers to the total percentage (%) of material put back into circularity with the balance being non-recoverable material that due to the way it was presented or it's nature could not be economically separated for circularity.

Comments

  • This report is provided in good faith by EMR to help our suppliers manage their low carbon journey.
  • All carbon emissions are reported in metric tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (t CO₂e).
  • Where possible, primary data sources have been used to demonstrate a transparent view of the carbon impact of EMR recycling from collection or delivery to downstream manufacture into new products.
  • Every effort has been made to ensure that this report is as representative and accurate as possible.
  • EMR is not responsible for the quality of data or information provided by any third party referred to in this report.
  • Any greenhouse gas or carbon values illustrated are indicative only and any reliance placed upon these is at the party's own risk.
  • Carbon Emissions Avoided are illustrated as a societal benefit and not claimed by EMR or its clients.
  • The carbon cost of producing an equivalent volume from primary raw materials has been estimated using global average emissions factors for metal manufacturing.
  • All data provided was accurate at time of report production; accounting methods and secondary emissions estimates may evolve over time.
