EMR Cardiff, of Dowlais Wharf, has teamed up with local youth charity Boomerang to support its youth employment programme.

Boomerang, a charity which aims to prevent homelessness and poverty, supports families and young people throughout Cardiff. They work with communities to offer a lifeline to individuals who have fallen upon hard times. Through a number of projects, such as ‘Homeless To Home’ which offers essential home starter packs to those who have moved into empty properties and employability skills programmes, the charity aims to help people overcome homelessness, poverty, critical living conditions and social isolation. Boomerang’s overarching aim is to provide immediate support for those who need it.

Through the partnership EMR will support Boomerang’s youth employability training course, enabling 25 young people aged between 16 – 25 years to access one-to-one support on CV writing and interview skills.

Daniel Latner, Operations Manager at EMR Cardiff, described why it is important for the site to support this programme:

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a detrimental impact on many areas of society including youth employment. Boomerang’s youth employment programme will offer a vital lifeline to young people who through no fault of their own are struggling to find feasible opportunities. I look forward to seeing these young people build successful careers.”

Paul Gwilym of Boomerang added:

“This donation will have a significant impact on the young people we support back into employment, with 1 to 1 CV writing and interview skills and techniques. Thank you EMR!”

The partnership between EMR Cardiff and Boomerang was created as part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined programme, an initiative that helps young people across the country whom are impacted by circumstances outside of their control, to build brighter futures.
