Colleagues at EMR sites in Darlaston, Oldbury and Smethwick have supported Sandwell Council's Christmas Toy Campaign, underlining the global leader in sustainable materials' commitment to helping young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Sandwell Children’s Trust run an initiative each year to provide Christmas gifts for children who would otherwise receive little to no gifts. This initiative is supported by Sandwell council, which works with social value partners and local businesses to donate new toys and gifts for Sandwell Children’s Trust to distribute throughout the borough.
At the three local EMR sites, drop off points were installed so that staff could donate gifts throughout November and early December. This led to scores of gifts being donated to the initiative, including some of the latest toys and figures, as well as board games and colouring-in books.
Barry Flannagan, Head of Social Responsibility at EMR, said: “EMR is deeply committed to supporting the communities where we work. It’s heartwarming to see our colleagues come together to bring joy to children who might otherwise go without this Christmas.
“Supporting Sandwell Council’s Christmas Toy Campaign is just one way we can help make a difference and spread some festive cheer."
Michael Wragg, Senior Social Value Officer at Sandwell Council, said: “Thankyou everyone at EMR for your kind donations it’s much appreciated. It’s an absolute pleasure to be able to help put smiles on children and young people’s faces this Christmas. Particularly for the vulnerable children in Sandwell who may not get a gift this year without the generosity of those who donate. Thanks for your support and know that you are all making a massive difference to children’s lives.”
