  • EMR has achieved Great Place To Work® certification across its UK, US and European operations for the fourth consecutive year, maintaining an unbroken record since first taking part in the programme
  • The recognition follows the launch of EMR’s new global brand identity, built around a simple belief: Everything Must Recycle.

Every day, thousands of people across EMR do important work that most people never see.

They recover metals and plastics from end-of-life vehicles. They recycle batteries that will power tomorrow’s transport. They process materials that go on to become the buildings, infrastructure and products society depends on.

Listen to this story.

It is skilled work. Safety-critical work. Work that keeps valuable resources in circulation and helps build more resilient, circular supply chains.

None of it happens without the people behind it.

That is why EMR's people are at the heart of its new global brand identity.

The new identity tells a clearer story about the practical work that defines the business every day and the role colleagues play in keeping valuable materials in circulation. Whether working in a yard, operating specialist equipment, developing new recycling technologies or supporting customers and communities, every role contributes to turning today's materials into tomorrow's products.

By making that connection clearer, the new brand aims to build even greater understanding of and pride in the work EMR's people do every day.

That commitment continues to be recognised through Great Place To Work®, with EMR achieving certification across its UK, US and European operations for the fourth consecutive year and being recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™ in Manufacturing, Production & Transportation.

Importantly, that recognition is shaped by what EMR’s own colleagues say about their experience of working at the company.

“Everything we achieve as a business starts with our people. Recycling millions of tonnes of material every year is only possible because thousands of people show up each day, use their skills and judgement, solve problems and do difficult jobs well.

“That is why Great Place To Work matters to me. It is based on what our own colleagues tell us about working at EMR.

“Being recognised as a Great Place To Work® for a fourth consecutive year is something we should be proud of, but it does not mean we have finished. The feedback tells us what we are getting right and, just as importantly, where we need to get better.

“We will keep listening, investing in our people and improving the experience of working at EMR.”

Chris Sheppard, Group CEO at EMR

Today, EMR employs around 4,000 colleagues across more than 160 locations worldwide. Together, they recycle around 10 million tonnes of material every year, recovering valuable resources from end-of-life vehicles, buildings, factories, household products and complex industrial waste streams and putting them back to work.

Supporting those colleagues means investing at every stage of their careers. Across the business, EMR provides apprenticeships, technical training, recognised industry qualifications and leadership development, building the skills needed to support an increasingly circular industrial economy.

That investment goes beyond career development. From safer workplaces and modern welfare facilities to wellbeing initiatives, inclusion and opportunities to progress, EMR is committed to creating a place where people can do great work safely, develop their skills and build long-term careers.

Independent colleague feedback through the Great Place To Work® programme plays an important role in that journey, helping EMR understand what colleagues value most and where further improvements can be made.

The latest Great Place To Work® recognition comes as EMR brings its new brand identity to life, putting its people at the centre of a clearer story about what the business does, why it matters and where it is going.

Together, EMR’s people are turning today’s materials into tomorrow’s products – putting the belief that Everything Must Recycle into practice every day.
