Selling to us overview
Competitive prices for your scrap metal
At EMR we have long-standing relationships with our customers which is testament to the excellent service we provide based on competitive prices, honesty and efficiency. We also help you handle your scrap metal responsibly and in compliance with relevant legislation.
Who do we buy from?
The short answer is anyone who produces scrap metal. This includes local trades and businesses, manufacturers, other scrap metal merchants, construction and demolition contractors, blue-chip organisations, government bodies and service providers to name but a few. We also welcome the general public to most of our yards, check here for your local yard and opening times.
How to sell your scrap metal?
Call in to any of our yards, you don’t need an appointment. To find a local depot, check the opening hours or find contact details and directions just click here.
If you have larger volumes of metal and are interested in finding out about our collection service just give us a call, or send your enquiry via our contact form and we’ll give you a call. We have a huge range of skips and bins available to meet your specific needs and we also offer total waste management solutions, find out more here.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Since the Scrap Metal Dealers Act was introduced, all buyers of scrap metal, including mobile collectors, must ask you for a copy of your photo ID and proof of address, which must be dated within three months. A UK photo driving licence is probably the easiest form of identification, but if you want to see what else you can use check here for an up to date list.
If you have a car to scrap, bring the V5C registration document if you have it available, although we can still scrap the car without it. As an ATF, we can send you a certificate of destruction, CoD, to prove that you’re no longer the registered keeper of the vehicle.
- Valid UK photo driving licence
- Valid UK passport
- Valid EEA passport
- Valid UK biometric immigration document
- Valid EU National ID card
- Valid UK Firearm/Shotgun licence
If the document from the list above does not show a current address, it must be accompanied by:
Proof of address which must be less than 3 months old when the scrap is received
- Bank or building society statement
- Credit or debit card statement
- Mortgage statement
- Council tax demand letter or statement
- Council rent book/Benefit book
- Council/Housing Association agreement
- HMRC correspondence
- TV licence
- UK Firearm/Shotgun licence
- Utility bill (not a mobile phone bill)

Make sure we have a copy of your current, up to date ID. If in doubt bring it with you when you next visit.
