EMR, a global leader in circular materials, has announced that Anton van Genuchten will step back from executive leadership responsibilities on 31 May 2026, following more than a decade with the business and a distinguished international career across metals, recycling and energy.

Anton has spent more than 40 years in the international metals, recycling and energy sectors, building a career shaped by deep market knowledge, long-standing relationships and a practical understanding of how materials move around the world. Across leadership roles at BP Oil, SHV, HKS, TSR, Reukema and EMR, he has worked through decades of change across global commodity, recycling and circular materials industries.

Alongside his executive career, Anton has also contributed widely to the sector through board positions, joint ventures and trade association roles across Europe.

Since joining EMR in 2013, Anton has helped grow and develop EMR’s Continental European business during a period of significant change for global recycling and circular material supply chains.

Over the last decade, he has helped guide EMR’s European business through a period where recycled materials and circular supply chains have become increasingly critical to global industry.

Chris Sheppard, Group CEO of EMR, said:

“Anton has dedicated his career to this industry and has earned enormous respect across the international metals and recycling sector along the way.

“At EMR, he has played an important role in developing our Continental European operations and the partnerships that underpin our trading business across the region.

“He combines deep market knowledge with straightforward commercial judgement and a genuine understanding of people and partnerships, qualities that have made a real difference to EMR over many years.

“Anton has helped strengthen the expertise and market presence that keep materials moving around the world.

“On behalf of everyone at EMR, I would like to thank Anton for his leadership, commitment and contribution over the last 13 years. We wish him and his family every happiness and success for the future.”

Following 31 May 2026, Anton will continue supporting the business through a transition period while stepping back from day-to-day executive leadership responsibilities.

EMR’s leadership, strategy and commitment to customers remains unchanged as it continues investing for the long term in circular materials, recycling infrastructure and resilient low-carbon supply chains.
