EMR Metal Recycling wins ‘Workplace of the Year’ at Sefton Council Awards

28 June 2019

EMR Metal Recycling, which has facilities at Alexandra Docks and on Bankhall Lane, won ‘Workplace of the Year’ at the Sefton Council Sports Awards last night.

EMR Metal Recycling was nominated for its community partnership with inclusive football team, Bootle Bucks Inclusion FC.  The leading metal recycler joined forces with the club in April last year and has since supported the club in growing from 30 children to over 90 children.

EMR’s Area Manager, Scott Bamborough, and Regional Depot Co-ordinator, Louise Burns, accepted the award last night. Scott said: “It was a huge pleasure to accept the award on behalf of the partnership between EMR and Bootle Bucks Inclusion FC.

“It is a sincere honour to support ‘The Bucks’ with their huge success in giving every child the opportunity to play football. It is much more than a football club – it’s a community and support network for kids, parents and carers. It is an extended family to all involved.

“All of us at EMR are honoured to have been given the opportunity to be part of this family.”

Bootle Bucks Inclusion FC Chairman, John Rice said: “Big congratulations to everyone at EMR Metal Recycling on winning their award at the Sefton Sports Awards last night. EMR and its people have community at their core. It’s fair to say Bootle Bucks Inclusion FC would not be visible and iconic without the efforts of EMR Metal Recycling and its team in Bootle. The support has made a big difference to our Club and enables us to support so many children and young adults with varying disabilities.

“Our kids feel and look like the team they always wanted to be part of, thanks to them. EMR has embraced Bootle Bucks Inclusion FC as we have embraced them.

“They are an excellent company, with excellent people and an excellent ethos. They have gone far beyond what anyone ever expected and we are all proud to be part of the EMR Metal Recycling team, as they are proud to be honorary ‘Bucks’!

“Thank you EMR Metal Recycling, we will be forever grateful for what you have done for us!”

The awards come as staff from EMR join the Club on their trip to Belfast for the George Best Memorial Disability Tournament this weekend.
