Metal recycler partners with charity to help vulnerable people in Walsall

21 May 2018

Metal recycler, EMR, has joined forces with Old Hall People’s Partnership, a charity at the centre of the Bentley community.

As part of the partnership, EMR based on Bentley Road, has donated £1,300 to support the charity’s ‘starter pack’ scheme, launched to give people who have fallen on tough times the basic living essentials.

The packs contain essential items anyone needs for their homes such as bedding, duvet, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery. Last year, the charity distributed over 50 packs across the area.

EMR Area Manager, Steve Cunningham said: “At EMR we put a great deal of importance on supporting the communities that are close to our sites and we are delighted to have a partnership with an organisation that makes such a difference.

“Old Hall People’s Partnership supports everyone from struggling single parents, isolated older people, children in desperate need, the homeless, victims of domestic violence, and countless others in between.

“These packs give those who have no or little belongings the things we all need in our homes.”

Old Hall People’s Partnership Founder, Denise Birkett said: “Our charity was born from a burning desire to tackle genuine issues in our community. We’re here to help and make a difference to the fantastic people of this town.

“The support from EMR is making a big difference to our projects and the people of Bentley. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at EMR!”

EMR and the charity are also developing an employment opportunity scheme to support the unemployed into employment.
