Southampton ChildrenÂ’s Hospital Charity welcomes donation from local metal recycler

11 May 2018

Metal recycler, EMR based on Princes Street, has raised more than £250 for Southampton Children’s Hospital Charity.

Customers at the site were invited to correctly guess the weight of a 1130 kilogramme bale of scrap metal for a fee of £1. The customer who came the closest to guessing the correct weight received a Love2shop voucher.

The proceeds from the competition have been donated to Southampton Children’s Hospital Charity, which will support the new Children’s Emergency and Trauma Department. The new department will treat children from the city and also the wider region including Hampshire, Dorset and Sussex.

Jeneen Thomsen, Fundraising Manager at Southampton Children’s Hospital Charity welcomed the donation from the local EMR depot. She said: “Thank you so much to all the amazing staff and customers at EMR for getting involved in this creative fundraising initiative. Your support will help move closer to our fundraising target. It is only with the support of people like you that we will get there.”

Sam Tudjaroglu, EMR Area Manager said: “We wanted to help raise money for Southampton Children’s Hospital to support the incredible work the staff there do on a daily basis and it’s great to know that the money raised will make a real difference to the lives of local children. We’d like to thank all of our customers for their enthusiasm and generosity in taking part and we’re looking forward to keeping the momentum going with an ongoing effort to raise money for charities within the local Southampton area.”
