Natural resources wont last forever - EMR pledges support to worlds first ever Global Recycling Day
16 March 2018
One of the world’s leading metal recycling companies, EMR, has pledged its support to raise awareness of the need to change waste into valuable resource in support of the first ever Global Recycling Day.
EMR are urging people to think twice before they throw away materials that could be recycled as part of the global campaign to help preserve the earth’s precious resources.
Global Recycling Day is an international initiative designed by the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), which is set to see businesses and communities across the world join forces on 18 March to showcase the importance recycling plays in preserving the future of our planet.
EMR’s Marketing and Communications Director, Gareth Williams said: “We are proud to be supporting Global Recycling Day. As a global leader in metal recycling, we recognise the importance of recycling as our natural resources won’t last forever and landfilling is unsustainable.
“We can recycle anything from a toaster to an aircraft carrier and have invested heavily in developing our own technologies to build complex recycling processes in our quest to be the global leader in the provision of sustainable materials.
“With over 75 sites around the country, you are never far away from one of our sites that can recycle your scrap metal. It is time to put our planet first and consider – can your metal waste be recycled?”
BIR President, Ranjit Baxi, said: “The world’s first Global Recycling Day is a vitally important new date in our global calendar. To truly harness the power of recycling we must adopt a global approach and this day recognises the global nature of the industry and the issue. It is time we put the planet first and all commit to spending 10 more minutes a day ensuring that materials are disposed of properly. We applaud organisations like EMR for their support for the Day.”
