EMR launches partnership to help clean up Bootle as newly transformed recycling facility opens

15 December 2017

EMR, one of the world’s leading metal recycling companies, announces its partnership with the Bootle Action Group, as its newly transformed recycling facility is opened.

EMR has recently redeveloped its Liverpool Bankhall Lane site. The larger 5.2 acre site, which allows EMR to process more quantities of metal, was opened by the Bootle Action Group on Friday 15 December.

EMR has other sites in the area, including Liverpool Alexandra Dock and Gladstone Dock and employs a total of 65 staff in the area alone.

The redevelopment, which has more than doubled the site’s workforce, has seen the site extended by an additional three acre plot next door to the existing site and incorporates a new 1000 tonne shear. The renovations include two new weighbridges and a larger area dedicated to processing End-of-Life Vehicles, allowing more materials from the community and local businesses to be recycled quicker.

The launch comes as EMR announces a partnership with the Bootle Action Group, a community group dedicated to creating a cleaner, brighter Bootle. EMR will be working with the group throughout 2018 on projects.

North West Area Manager, Scott Bamborough, said: “The site improvements will allow us to serve our customers quicker, in a yard they know will be welcoming, safe, clean and tidy. We’d like to thank the Bootle Action Group for attending our launch event and officially opening the facility. Our partnership with the group will help the local area become a safer, cleaner place for the community.”

Bootle Action Group founder, Mike Brennan, added: “It was a real pleasure to open this site. I was amazed at the scale of the operation and impressed by the fact that a leading edge recycling facility like this is based in the heart of our community.

“We are really excited to be partnering with a large global company that has recycling at its core. We would like to say a big thank you for the assistance and funding EMR has offered so far and we look forward to working with the company in the new year and beyond.”
